Jack Bolton’s Match Report

Last Tuesday St. Fiacc’s travelled to Clonaslee for our toughest match so far this year. The Clonaslee boys were a fit and well organised team but the Fiacc’s boys were up for the fight and came up 6-12  to 3-9 winners. I made some  vital substitutions during the game and I don’t mind saying I worked hard for the victory! Bring on the next victims. JB (An Laoch).

Delivery of our National Flag.

Today Lieutenant Niall Harte and Trooper Thomas Redmond visited St Fiacc’s NS to deliver a National Flag and a copy of the Irish Proclamation to our school as part of the Irish Government’s Centenary Programme.

Firstly Lt Harte read the Proclamation. Sixth class pupil Cillian O’ Reilly read the excerpt that contained the phrase “cherishing all the children of the nation equally”.

Next Trooper Redmond presented the Flag to Sixth class pupil Gerald Duggan. He also explained the significance of the colours of our national flag.

Finally the soldiers answered questions from the audience.

The visit ended with a rendition of our own anthem “The Boys and Girls of St Fiacc’s”. We hope to learn more about the Easter Rising next year!
