Visit from Santa

We had an awesome visit from Santa and his elf yesterday which caused a great stir of excitment in the school. All pupils in Junior classes received a chocolate treat and some magic reindeer food to keep the reindeer going on their long journey around the world. A huge thanks to Sharon, James and all then Parents Associaton for organising the logistics of the visit and to Santa for taking the time out of his busy schedule to visit.

Christmas Concerts

We had two epic Christmas concerts on Friday in St Fiacc’s Hall. All class groups were fantastic and it really was very uplifting for all present. Thanks to all classes and our Banna Ceoil and Choir for fantastic performances. Ms Davitt and Ms Kavanagh give up so much time after school to practice with these groups and it is very much appreciated. Thanks to Fr Dunphy for saying a prayer at the start of the concerts, to Mr Keogh for his amazing new video and to Mr Kelly for arranging all the sound and backing tracks. A great event and we hope you all have a lovely Christmas!

New School Garden

As part of the European Sustanability Fund, St Fiacc’s N.S  were successful with a grant for a school garden. Students under the guidance of Mr O’Flaherty designed and created a beautiful space for flowers and veg to grow. Wes Whitton was instrumental in the process and a huge thanks to Robert Miller (Altamont Plants) who gave us an unbelieveable deal on plants. Well done to all !

Mass of Giving/ St Clare’s Hospitality Collection

We had a beautiful Mass to mark the beginning of Advent on the 8th December- The collection for St Clare’s hospitality was really successful and thanks to the TY students who helped to deliver all the food stocks over to be packed. A massive thanks to all families who donated, the hampers will be delivered to people in need in our locality for Christmas.

5th and 6th Class Coding

As part of our schools Digital Learning Framework, 5th and 6th class students are busy coding in this Term! On Friday students were looking at www.code.org and spending one hour completing tasks on creating widgets to dance- lots of fun and some great learning!

121 Shoeboxes for Team Hope

Well done to all the boys and girls of St Fiacc’s for making up 121 shoeboxes for the Team Hope Christmas Appeal. Our Students Council and Ms Minnock organised all the collection and did stellar work to promote it throughout the school -Maith sibh!

Science Show at SETU

Ms Kavanagh and Ms Canavan’s 4th classes had a great trip to the SETU on Tuesday where we visited Dr Ken’s Science show and learned all about gravity and forces! It was a fantastic trip and we all had a fantasti time!

In November We Remember

In November we remember all of our loved ones who are in heaven. Thanks to all the boys and girls of St Fiacc’s for making a star to reperesnt their special intention to create this beautiful display in the school lobby.

Also thanks to Fr Dunphy for coming in on Assembly today for prayers for our loved ones who are not with us anymore.

Debating in Newtown Dunleckney

Well done to our Debating Team who competed with Newtown Dunleckney today in their first Debating competition this year. The team did very well and made us all very proud. A big thanks to Ms Coakley and Ms E.Doyle for their organisation and preparation for the event!

Halloween Safety Visit

We had a visit from Esmay, our communitygarda last week in 6th class where she had a chat with the senior classes about Fire Safety at Halloween. She also showed how to make a proper arrest which was great fun for all to see. Many thanks to Esmay for visiting the school and we really appreciate her taking the time out of her busy schedule to inform us about risks and hazards at Halloween.

Maths Week Fun in 4th Class”

On Friday Ms Kavanagh had some great Maths lessons in her class with the children partaking in Numicon Graph making, Card Games, Izak 9 Challenges and using our Probots for directions and coding. It was a fantastic afternoon and all the children had an awesome time! Thanks Ms Kavanagh for organising.

October- The Month of the Rosary

At Assembly we are saying our Rosary every Friday morning as October is the month of the Holy Rosary. Our fifth class students made a beautiful display for the school lobby to celebrate this very special month in the Catholic church. Well done for your fantastic display and for coming up with the idea all by yourselves. A huge thanks to Ms Scully for facilitating.

GAA Blitz

We had a fantastic GAA Blitz in Graiguecullen Club Grounds today with over 70 children from 4th-6th class taking part. It was great to see new faces try it out. We were also joined by Rhys from the Afterschools who won a Senior Carlow Championship with Eire Og recently and who brought along the cup! A big thanks to Rhys for coming down and best of luck on his travels over the coming months. Thanks to Ms Minnock, Ms O’Toole and Mr Nolan for organising the Blitz.
