St. Fiacc's National School

Thanks to Pat & Sarah for clearing the paths for our pupils!

The laptop trolley is getting great use in Mr Kelly and Ms Mullens classes this year. They are being used as a valuable tool in St Fiacc’s N.S to access all areas of the curriculum.

Mr Shiel’s fifth class had a fantastic visit to the Carlow County Museum two weeks ago. Thanks to Dermot and the staff at Carlow County Museum for showing the students all about the history of our beautiful town.

Sixth class students were busy this week making videos of Ms Walsh’s Senior Infants running.  Over the coming weeks they are going to teach key fundamental movement skills to help the children run more effectively in the future. We are looking forward to the results of the project!

Well done to all our Students of the Week and Gaelgeoir na Seachtaine from last week. Thanks to Fr Dunphy for the lovely Advent Service.We used our brand new i-pads to test our Advent knowledge for extra prizes on the day.

The First Class children in Room 28 are using the See Saw app to create their own digital profiles of their learning.

“Seesaw empowers students to independently document what they are learning at school.
Students can “show what they know” using photos, videos, drawings, text, PDFs, and links. Seesaw makes it easy for students and teachers to review progress over time and demonstrate growth.  When students add to their Seesaw journal, content is uploaded, organized by student, and immediately accessible to teachers from any device.”

The children in Rm 28 are currently using the app to record work they are proud of. The children select a piece of work they have completed and are proud of. They take a photo of their selected work using the app and add it to their profile. The children add a comment to their work explaining why they chose it. The work is then added to their profile.

Well done to the third and fourth class boys who excelled in today’s indoor soccer blitz.

Thanks to Miss Doheny for donating hurls to St. Fiacc’s. Pictured below is Miss Doheny presenting the hurls to hurling team captain Gerry Delaney. Hopefully the Kilkenny dust will rub off on us!!

Following our work on houses and homes in SESE, Room 10 made structures out of clay. We decorated them and put them all together to create an elf village. We added some felt snow covering and some snowmen lights.

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!
