Second class have been busy learning about the environment and protecting the environment. We looked at the river Barrow and found out lots of information about it using our ipads. We then created posters to encourage people to look after this lovely area and these pictures were sent to KCLR as part of an Irish Waterways project. You may see some of these lovely photos on KCLR’s twitter or Facebook page.

Room 10 have been very busy creating lots of wonderful things in art. Here are some lovely examples. Flowers for Mother’s day, hats and crosses for St. Patrick’s day, stained glass window Easter eggs. Most recently, we have looked at the colour wheel and made lots of different colours. We then created our own version of the famous ‘Waterlilies’.

Best of luck to St Fiacc’s hurling team who take on Stradbally this Wednesday at 12.30pm in Ballylinan in the Laois Cumann na mBunscol Semi Final.
Our 6th class students created a wonderful display for the Sacred Space area in the lobby. As May is the month of our Lady, we will pray to her for help and guidance this month at Assembly every Friday.
Thanks to all who supported our fantastic Book Fair. There were great books to be had and a large percentage of the takings went back into buying more books for our own school library. A big thank you to the parents who volunteered their time, the children who helped out and also Khan’s Books providing such wonderful value for money.

Well done to our two girls’ teams who competed in this week’s 5-a-side soccer blitz. The A team were County Finalists while the B team acquitted themselves well. Thanks to Miss Scully and Miss Walsh for arranging.
At Assembly today we awarded prizes to authors and Artists against Bullying! Of course we also celebrated our Students of the week and Gaeilgeoiri na Seachtaine.
First class were very lucky to receive six weeks of GAA coaching from Pat Timmons. The children learned a variety of GAA skills and had a brilliant time at each session.
Well done to our boys and Mr Nolan who participated in the FAI 5-a-side soccer today.

3rd & 4th Class had lots of fun celebrating Maths and Science Week. We worked in pairs and used our ‘Maths Eyes’ to work out maths problems based on pictures of objects in our environment. We also played a fun online maths game called ‘Hit the Button’ to help us revise our multiplication tables. To celebrate Science Week we did some experiments to test the effects of heat on different items. Check out the photos below to see us in action!
3rd Class have had a busy few days. We did a maths trail, cracked codes, played number bingo and even created problems like our ‘Fiddle me out’ posters. Can you guess which people in Ms Bolger’s class these ‘Figure me out’ posters belong to? Also, we enjoyed a science fair with the other 3rd class where we got to demonstrate and share our learning with exciting experiments. To top it all off, we got to celebrate world book day with a quiz!
Fifth class demonstrated some amazing experiments this week.
Some pupils demonstrated how to blow up a balloon using a few household items; vinegar and baking soda.
The class had great fun experimenting with air pressure.
The pupils also got to create their own rainbow and discover what is in milk and why Fairy washing up liquid attaches itself to the milk.
One pupil demonstrated how to create slime in your kitchen.
We ended our maths and science week with quite an explosion.
