St. Fiacc's National School

So proud of our school choir! They have worked very hard this term. They performed recently in Fairgreen Shopping Centre, at our school concert in St. Clare’s Church and also in St. Fiacc’s house.

Thank you for your continued support and a big thanks to Mr. Kelly and Ms. Doyle also.

We are looking forward to peace proms in February and hope the choir are learning their songs and dances at home.

Room 10 have been busy making lovely Christmas crafts. From sewing, to Christmas symmetry, to constructing angels, snowflakes and snowmen out of paper,  to making elf houses and decorations out of clay and finally making our own Christmas wrapping paper. It’s the most wonderful time of the year!

Thanks to our wonderful caretaker, Mr Pat Doogue, for once again making our Christmas Crib in the lobby of the school. Also thanks to 2nd classes for their great work on the Sacred Space area.

Well done to all classes for their super performances last Thursday and Friday at the Junior and Senior Christmas Concerts. A particular thanks to Mr Kelly and Ms Fleming for all their work to make it such a success. Also many thanks to Fr Dunphy for facilitating the school to use the church for the practices and final performances.

Thanks to  students from all classes for their kind donations of food supplies for the Advent Mass of the Giving on December 7th. The proceeds are all going to make hampers for a great local charity, St Clare’s Hospitality.

Second class were busy making our school sacred space. We have made promises on advent candles on how we will make room in our hearts for Jesus this advent.

We had great fun making little bugs out of lollipop sticks and coloured card.

Room 10 have been busy learning about Italy. Today we used ipads to research information on a famous Italian composer.  We learned about Vivaldi and listened to his music. It was an interesting lesson!

Three super examples of recount writing from rang 2. We have been working very hard on recount writing. These are examples of some of our work. Well done to all the boys and girls in room 10 for working hard on their recount writing. Keep it up!

As we are a proud Green School we ask our students to make Halloween costumes relating to a green theme each year for dress-up day. This year, the students were asked to dress up based on the theme of Global Warming. We were delighted to see such a great effort put in by the students and were very impressed with their fantastic home-made costumes. The children did an excellent job describing their costumes during assembly. Well done to all involved!

Our team began their campaign this week.

Second class, room 10,  have been very busy. In September, we learned about myself and my community. We created self – portraits in the style of ‘Pop Art’. We drew maps showing our journey from home to school. We discussed how we are all unique and have special talents and how each individual adds something special to our class.
