Unfortunately we are not sure when we will be back at school. At the start of every week, I will now put up an online Kahoot! Quiz on this blog to keep all our senior students actively learning at home while still having fun. You can play the quiz as a family group, with siblings or individually. Just type Kahoot!.it  into google, go into the website and put in this access code in for our first quiz (30 questions)-  0332202

We had a fantastic day in IT Carlow today with our VEX students. We performed extremely well in the competition and thanks to Mr Kelly for all his hard work on the project. Well done to all our students who took part in this great initiative.

First class made Brazilian Carnival Masks today as part of all their learning about Brazil

Room 10 have had a lovely week. It was fun making St. Brigid’s crosses, meeting grandparents and thinking about and designing posters for how we can look after the earth.

Thanks to all our wonderful Grandparents for coming into the school on Wednesday morning as part of Catholic School’s Week. We had a fantastic morning and children got a great insight into what school was like in the not too distant past! Also a huge thank you to our Parents Association for ensuring that there was tea/coffee and treats made available for grandparents after visiting the classes.

So proud of our school choir. They performed brilliantly in Fairgreen Shopping Centre for Carlow Volunteer Centre and most recently we got to visit St. Fiacc’s House. We thoroughly enjoyed both performances and we were delighted to be joined by some of Mr. Kelly’s guitar group. A huge well done to the school choir.

Thanks to everyone for supporting us. Looking forward to Peace Proms in 2020!

A huge thank you to Mr Nolan and especially Corporal Leon Deere (Past Pupil of St Fiacc’s N.S) for organising an amazing trip to the Curragh Army Base for 6th class students. We saw Michael Collins’ armoured Rolls Royce car along with a massive display of military weapons and got a tour around the modern history museum. Children got some hands on action with ration packs, weapons and equipment as well as having a a tour of a very modern and sophisticated army tank. Corporal Deere and his colleagues really put on a great show for all the children and it was both interesting and lots of fun. Children got a great appreciation of conditions and life in the army. It was a super experience for all!

Gabriela brought in her Double Bass to 6th class and played some lovely Christmas tunes for her classmates this week. Well done Gabriela and keep practicing and developing your amazing musical talent!

Congratulations to all our award winners at Assembly this week!

During science week we were learning about materials. We discussed and described both manmade and natural materials and we explored the materials in our environment. It was a great week!

Second Class were so excited to attend a play called ‘Susie the Story Shredder’ in Carlow Visual Theatre recently. It was a great day out and we were all inspired to write our own stories when we got back to the classroom!

We had so much fun when we got to meet local sporting hero Kylie Murphy and Maisy got to hold the cup!

The school choir had a wonderful day rehearsing for the Peace Proms concert in Waterford IT Arena recently. They are so excited for the concert in March. Please come along to Fairgreen on Friday 6th of December for approximately 10:30 where they will be performing some festive songs to get us all into the Christmas spirit. I’m delighted to be working with this wonderful group of students this year. Thank you to all the parents who support us throughout the school year!
